Here we have for sale our stunning 1999 Ducati 996SPS. Our UK 3 owner example was late registered in May 2000, has had just four owners and has covered just 24,398 miles from new. The bike has undergone an extensive recommissioning at Moto Technica Ltd just 2 years ago and sat in the last owners living room since without being ridden and started regularly. 

The bike is number 331 of the limited production run of 1780 for both 1999 and 2000 with only 40 UK examples for 1999 which makes this really rare. Comes fitted with the Termignoni exhaust system, carbon front mudguard, rear hugger, exhaust guards and v-panel. The bike has recently had Timing Belts, New Yuasa Battery, Exact Start Starter Leads, All Fluids, Filters (Inc Fuel Filter and E10 Fuel Lines), New DID Gold Chain, Tyres, New Mirrors, Grips, Bar Ends and is supplied with the full Ducati book pack including service book, owners manual, two keys, a selection of paperwork including the original bill of sale(inc PDI sheet), numerous old MOT certificates and service receipts.

The 996SPS suffix stood for ‘Sport Production Special’. The engine was the same as the one used in the 916SPS but the weight was cut down considerably. The 996SPS produced around 124 bhp, more than the standard 996. The special SPS engine was much stronger than anything that Ducati had produced for the track. To ensure a distance was held between the standard 996 and the 996SPS Ducati designed a much higher specification chassis. The wheels were a five spoke design but were lighter than the standard three spoke design and in 1999 the rear shocks were made by high quality Swedish suspensions manufacturer, Öhlins with Showa front forks.

These bikes are getting harder to find, especially in this condition, and would be a great addition to any serious motorcycle collection.
